Join us at the launch of the So-called Honour Based Violence (SCHBV) and Forced marriage Stockport strategies.
Stockport Complex Safeguarding Strategic Group have developed a strategy and supporting guidance to assist colleagues in developing their knowledge and awareness of these subjects.
SCHBV and abuse is defined as:
“A collection of practices used to control the behaviour of individuals to protect perceived
Cultural and religious beliefs, values or social norms in the name of honour”
(Greater Manchester so-called honour based violence statement)
Forced marriage is defined as:
A forced marriage is where one or both people do not (or in cases of people with learning disabilities, cannot) consent to the marriage and pressure or abuse is used.
(Foreign and Commonwealth office, 2013)
The event will provide colleagues the opportunity to consider and discuss the strategy and guidance, enabling them to cascade learning within their own organisations on how to approach these complicated aspects of work with children, families and vulnerable adults.
will facilitate a session to inform people about the risks, threats and harm that so-called honour-based violence and abuse, including forced marriage and female genital mutilation can pose and how these can be managed to reduce risk.
